PSAC calls on the government to immediately halt deputy ministerial bonuses

How can the government possibly justify $50,000 in bonuses for deputy ministers while thousands of public-service positions and services are eliminated?

The federal government should be transparent about the bonuses and “at-risk” pay and explain exactly why these bonuses are distributed.

We know this government has carried out an ongoing, targeted assault on public service workers. Meanwhile, these same public service workers are working tirelessly on behalf of Canadians, in the face of massive cuts. They are dealing with fewer resources and toxic and stressful work environments.

Public service workers are the ones who should be recognized and congratulated by the government.

For the Conservatives it seems austerity only applies to front line workers providing public services to Canadians.

We are calling on the government to immediately halt deputy ministerial bonuses.
